On Wednesday morning, October 16, the Hubbard House held its 30th Barbara Ann Campbell Memorial Breakfast at the Prime Osborn Convention Center.

In honor of the 30th anniversary of this event, two displays were set up during the breakfast.

One of these was an art exhibition honoring the more than 150,000 domestic violence survivors Hubbard House had helped over the past thirty years.

The other exhibit was an elaborate memorial table honoring the more than 200 victims of domestic violence in Duval over the past 30 years. Stephanie and Latisha are both survivors of domestic violence and each shared their stories with Action News Jax.

“It took me thirteen years before I could breathe again,” says Stephanie.

“I just have the strength to keep going,” Latisha said.

They feel that it is now their mission to save other lives.

“Please say something,” Latisha said. ‘Don’t keep that in your heart. Pray about it.”

“There is always a way out,” says Stephanie. “They are not alone; they just need to get help.”

If you need resources, the Hubbard House is a full-service certified domestic violence center that provides emergency shelter and support services to domestic violence survivors and their families, serving Duval and Baker counties in northeast Florida.

Free, confidential support is available 24/7 through the Hubbard House Hotline at 904-354-3114 and the Text Line at 904-210-3698.
