50,000 fentanyl pills seized in multi-agency drug investigation

On Tuesday, two people were arrested and approximately 50,000 fentanyl pills were seized as part of a multi-agency investigation.

Manuel Sanchez Rodriguez, 41, and Hector Sanchez Roman, 20, are being held in Salt Lake County Jail on investigation of two drug trafficking charges.

On Tuesday, agents with the Davis Metro Narcotics Strike Force, FBI and Salt Lake City Police Department’s narcotics unit served a search warrant at the residence where Rodriguez and Roman lived. Law enforcement seized approximately 50,000 fentanyl pills that were blue and labeled “M30,” eight pounds of meth and a pound of heroin, according to a police booking affidavit.

“Sanchez Rodriguez admitted to having a pound of heroin in his bedroom and confirmed that his bedroom was located on the southwest corner of the basement, where the heroin was located. He admitted to being in contact with a supplier and assisting this supplier in delivering drugs throughout Salt Lake County,” the affidavit said.

According to the affidavit, Roman allegedly told investigators he would “meet people and provide the drugs he was supposed to deliver, and then collect the proceeds from the drug sales.”

Agents from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service are also providing assistance in the case.
