Police are still searching for the driver who killed a 51-year-old cyclist in Northridge on Thursday and then drove off.

According to Los Angeles police, the collision happened around 9:20 p.m. near the 8500 block of N. Lindley Avenue and Parthenia Street.

Officers arrived on scene and found the victim, who has since been identified as Danny Oerlemans. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.

According to detectives, Oerlemans was riding his bicycle near Napa Street when he was struck by a car traveling north on Lindley Avenue, throwing him from his bike into the street.

Instead of stopping, the car drove away.

According to police, four or five other cars also hit Oerlemans as he was driving on the road. It is unclear how many, if any, of those drivers stopped to cooperate with their investigation.

There was no vehicle description or suspect for the first car involved.
