BOSTON – The MSPCA said they are looking for potential adopters for dozens of dogs after taking more than 50 dogs from a surrender in Massachusetts.
Sixty Boxer dogs were taken in from a home in Merrimac and the MSPCA said this is the largest local surrender of dogs in almost a decade. They are now being cared for in shelters in Boston, Methuen and Salem.
Police said the dogs were removed after reports of animal hoarding and overcrowding. No charges have been filed at this time.

The dogs range in age from newborn puppies to seniors and will not be available for adoption until they undergo medical and behavioral evaluations. MSPCA officials said some dogs are a thing and many have medical issues, such as dental work.
Some of the dogs are expected to be available for adoption as early as June 17. Interested parties are asked to monitor the MSPCA website for when the dogs will be available.
Caring for the dogs is expected to cost more than $10,000 and the MSPCA is accepting donations.
