MANCHESTER, Mich. (CBS DETROIT) – A 63-year-old man was found dead early Monday morning after a house fire in Manchester, Michigan.

At approximately 4 a.m., Manchester Township Fire Department responded to the 100 block of Riverside Street and found a heavy fire in the rear of the house, affecting the garage and an adjacent garage.

“The initial search for victims was hampered due to the involvement of the fire. Once the fire was deemed under control, a secondary search was conducted during which a 63-year-old man was located and pronounced deceased at the scene,” the fire department said in a news release. edition.

One firefighter was evaluated, treated and released.

Officials estimate there is about $25,000 in property loss.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Michigan State Police Fire Marshal Division.
