MINNEAPOLIS— A Fridley man who has a 11 year old in the face New Year’s Day accepted a plea deal Thursday.
James Turner44, pleaded guilty to one count of possession of ammunition as a felon in federal court, U.S. Attorney Andrew M. Luger announced.
Laneria Wilson was in her bedroom on January 1 when she heard gunshots in the street. She went to a window in her room where a bullet broke through and hit her, the complaint said. She was hospitalized and underwent surgery.
The police found eight cartridges and 24 unloaded casings near the house.
Court documents show officers obtained video of Turner outside Wilson’s residence, angrily speaking into the camera before turning it to show an AR-style rifle. Surveillance footage also shows Wilson firing several bullets in the direction of Wilson’s bedroom window.
Turner is prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition due to a felony conviction from last year. He avoided jail time at the time because he “proved he was eligible for probation,” according to court documents.
His sentencing is scheduled for September 18.
