BOSTON – After a Game 1 victory, Boston Celtics fans returned to TD Garden and Canal Street for Game 2 of the NBA Finals.
Canal Street closed to fans
A closed Canal Street was full of greenery on Sunday afternoon and evening, full of pregame fun for passionate Celtics fans.
“We are die-hard Celtics fans,” Tom Kennedy said. “Great atmosphere, it’s going to be exciting tonight, the Garden will be even louder than Game 1.”
Fans came from all over Massachusetts and across the country for the finals.
“I grew up watching Larry Bird Celtics … so I’m reliving my childhood here. When I come to a game tonight, he’s starting his childhood in Boston,” said Celtics fan Matt Laufer, who came with his son.
Celtics fans earn a Game 2 victory
As the evening drew closer, the doors of TD Garden opened to fans with tickets. And Canal Street fell silent as fans clung to the TVs, rooting for a win. With a win in Game 2, expectations are high for the Celtics, and Boston fans promise to believe.
“Champion City, you can’t go wrong, Title City!” said Celtics fan Sam Shippee.
Game 3 will be played Wednesday in Dallas, with some Celtics fans planning a trip to Texas. Others will pick it up from a sold out game party watching at TD Garden.
