Two semis collided, spilling pipelines onto Highway 99 in Fresno. Traffic is being diverted

Traffic on southbound Highway 99 is at a standstill after a truck collided, causing a spill on the highway.

Crews responded to the crash around 10:30 a.m. when one of the semis was carrying pipes that were sent into the northbound lanes, causing an additional crash.

Hazmat responded to the crash due to a possible chemical leak, the California Highway Patrol said.

Southbound Highway 99 is closed and traffic is being diverted to the McKinley exit, CHP Officer Carlos Medina said.

Caltrans closed Highway 180 eastbound and westbound to Highway 99 southbound.

It is unknown how long the closure will last or if there are any injuries, CHP Officer Carlos Medina said.
