Chase Elliott will start on pole for Sunday’s Cup race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway after qualifying was rained out Saturday.
The starting grid was determined based on the qualifying metric. That put Elliott on pole for Sunday’s 301-lap race (2:30 p.m. ET USA).
MORE: Cup starting lineup
Elliott has the best average finish this season with 9.1 and has finished no worse than 19th this year. However, New Hampshire hasn’t been an easy place for Hendrick Motorsports. The organization has not won a cup match there since 2012.
Elliott is joined on the front row by Ryan Blaney, last week’s winner at Iowa Speedway.
William Byron starts third. Christopher Bell starts fourth. Alex Bowman will start fifth, giving Hendrick Motorsports three cars in the top five.
What did Christopher Bell say about who Martin Truex Jr. replace next year?
Christopher Bell spoke to the media on Friday and revealed who is expected to drive the number 19 next year.
