Heavy thunderstorms are possible on Wednesday evening and a warning has been issued

According to radar, a line of thunderstorms stretching from Pennsylvania’s Bradford County, on the New York border, to Lancaster County, marched east Wednesday evening.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Berks, Lehigh and Carbon counties, as well as parts of Monroe and Northampton counties, at 6:15 p.m. It was in effect until 7 p.m

The NWS said the storm was moving northeast at 50 mph and had winds of 60 mph with hail less than 0.75 inches.

As of 7:17 p.m., FirstEnergy reported 1,050 customers without power in Berks County, 564 in Lehigh, 1,220 in Northampton and fewer than 20 in Monroe. At 7:23 p.m., PECO reported 38 customers without power in Bucks County, 9 in Chester, 40 in Delaware, 27 in Montgomery and 741 in Philadelphia. As of 7:10 p.m., PPL reported 8 outages in Bucks County, 2,632 in Carbon, 79 in Lancaster, 368 in Monroe, 147 in Northampton and 9,643 in Schuylkill.

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until midnight for Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton and Philadelphia counties.
