Jon Stewart says he thought the Trump-Musk X livestream was just ‘two old dudes in a basement talking about how hot they are’

  • Jon Stewart says he didn’t expect Monday’s Trump-Musk X livestream to be so boring.

  • The livestream was like “two old dudes in a basement talking about how hot they are,” he said.

  • Stewart said that now that Biden is out of the race, Trump’s age is becoming increasingly apparent.

Former President Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s X livestream on Monday was boring, says “The Daily Show” host Jon Stewart.

“The only thing I didn’t think I would be doing was boredom. I was fucking bored,” Stewart said on the latest episode of his podcast “The Weekly Show With Jon Stewart,” which aired Thursday.

Stewart mocked Trump-Musk’s livestream in the podcast’s opening, noting that the interview had inadvertently put a spotlight on Trump’s age. The real estate mogul turned 78 in June.

“But holy shit, was that just like two old dudes in a basement talking about how hot they are? Wow,” Stewart said.

According to Stewart, Trump’s age has become a point of concern since President Joe Biden withdrew from the race last month.

“I think he’s becoming Biden before our eyes in this race,” Stewart said of Trump’s slurred language during the livestream.

“The idea was that Biden’s performance in the debate was so shocking to the system of functionality that you looked at someone and thought, ‘Oh shit.’ This is a real regression in a way that we didn’t anticipate, but it also obscures what’s clearly going on with Trump,” he continued.

And now that Trump is no longer running against Biden, he no longer comes across as the relatively younger, energetic candidate, Stewart said in his podcast.

“When you take that out of the equation, you’re just left with a much sharper focus on what his decline is. And then you listen to those Twitter spaces. And again, he’s always been a little bit messy, but holy fuck,” he said.

This isn’t the first time Stewart has brought up Trump’s age in his comments on the presidential election.

During an appearance at the “Netflix Is A Joke” festival in May, Stewart said it was a mistake to put Biden and Trump on the ballot.

“Why are we allowing this? And now we’re going to have a president who is the two oldest people to ever run for president,” Stewart told the audience, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Then in June, Stewart said on “The Daily Show” that the Biden-Trump rematch would come down to the two candidates criticizing each other’s age.

“I think the election ultimately came down to the candidates accusing each other of eating soup instead of brains,” Stewart said.

Yet Trump, who will compete against 59-year-old Vice President Kamala Harris for the presidency in November, does not consider himself old.

In a post on Truth Social last month, the GOP candidate said he thought Harris was doing poorly in the polls “compared to a fine and brilliant young man” like himself.
