Baked Goods and Fresh Produce Shared at ‘Pittsburgh County Fair’

Pittsburgh celebrated all things homemade and handmade on Sunday.

The “Pittsburgh County Fair” was held in Allegheny Commons Park. The fair lasted from 11:00 to 18:00.

It set the tone for fall with an apple pie baking contest, with beloved Pittsburgh icon Rick Sebak among the judges.

There was also a contest for the best tomato in Pittsburgh. The event was hosted by the Western Pennsylvania Blind Outdoor Leasure and Development, an organization that works with blind people in the area. Their members judged the tomatoes.

Children visiting the fair could meet animals at a petting zoo.

Organizers hope the regional fair will draw attention to local urban agriculture and the skills of people living in the city.

Admission was free.
