MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis police are investigating a shooting that injured a teenage boy Monday afternoon.
According to police, officers from Precinct 1 heard gunshots around 4:22 p.m. Two minutes later, they found evidence of gunfire in a parking lot at Fifth Street North and Hennepin Avenue.
At around 4:25 p.m., officers arrested an 18-year-old man in an alley behind the police station. Police say he was arrested in connection with the shooting and on unrelated warrants. Authorities say a gun was also found at that time.
Shortly thereafter, at Eighth Street North and Hennepin Avenue, Metro Transit police found a 14-year-old boy with a gunshot wound that was not considered life-threatening. Police said he ran to the location and may have tried to board a bus. The teen was taken by ambulance to a hospital for treatment.
Investigators are trying to learn more about the cause of the incident.
Last Wednesday there was a 15-year-old boy shot while walking home with friends in North Minneapolis. His injuries were also not considered life-threatening. No one has been arrested in connection with that shooting.
