Police are asking the public for help identifying the driver who fled the scene of a crash in Sherman Oaks in September that seriously injured a 63-year-old woman.
It happened just before 6 p.m. on Sept. 6, when the woman was crossing Costello Avenue in a marked crosswalk, Los Angeles police said. While standing in the middle of the street, she was struck by the driver of a black Hyundai sedan turning left from Ventura Boulevard.
The impact sent the woman flying and the driver had to briefly stop. Instead of getting out of their vehicle to help, they fled the area, heading south on Costello Avenue before turning west on Davana Terrace, police said.
The woman, who has not yet been identified, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Her current status is unknown.
Police released a video of the accident on Wednesday, which can be viewed on their YouTube page.
Anyone with information about the crash is urged to contact the LAPD at (818) 644-8000.
