A man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after a brief confrontation with officers in Moorpark.

It all happened at an apartment complex on Moorpark Avenue, just south of Highway 118, where a man had barricaded himself in an apartment, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department said.

It is still unclear why the man barricaded himself in the apartment.

With SkyCal overhead, a heavy law enforcement presence was visible outside the building. At one point, officers fired pepper balls through a window into the unit.

At around 5pm officers were seen leading the suspect out of the building in handcuffs. He was sprayed with water due to the residue of the pepper sprayed in the apartment.

He was then placed on a stretcher and driven away in an ambulance. The extent and cause of his injuries are unknown.
