Nearly a week after a fatal accident in Detroit, family and friends of Tamya Durr gathered to commemorate her life.

A candlelight vigil was held Saturday evening at the crash site at the corner of Gratiot and Harper Avenues.

According to her family members, she was well-liked in the community and was in her senior year of high school, eager to attend college.

“She loved people,” said Terry Durr, Tamya’s father. “She loved to have fun. She loved to joke around. She was going to college this fall. She was just full of life and this is something she would expect if something ever happened to her, that people would come together and just have fun and just love each other.”

Durr was one of two teenagers killed in the crash. The other was the driver of the Dodge Charger Durr was in.
