Fall is officially here. With the temperatures hopefully dropping and the leaves slowly changing color, it’s time to recognize our next round of successful local high school students.
Student of the Week is an initiative of the News-Leader to highlight the academic achievements of local high school students. Local high school students who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance and community involvement are nominated by leaders of area school districts.
Voting is open until 11:00 on Thursday, September 26. Cast your vote for this round’s student of the week by visiting the poll below the nominees. You can cast one vote per hour.

The nominees for September 23 are…
Callie Terrell, Spokane High School: This junior is a three-sport athlete, playing varsity volleyball, cheer, and softball. Callie, who hopes to pursue a career in the medical field, was inducted into the National Honor Society as a sophomore and received Academic All-State Honors in volleyball. She is also a leader in Spokane’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapter.
Oluwatobi (Tobi) Adepoju, Kickapoo Secondary School: Described as a great student, Tobi has taken more than her required weighted courses in recent years and is one of Kickapoo’s top students. The senior works well with students of all ages and abilities and has volunteered in several places. She participates in the peer mediator program, the Chief mentor program, and the Kickapoo U program. Tobi was also selected to attend the Missouri Scholars Academy after her sophomore year.
