A blind squirrel occasionally finds a nut… or something like that.

That’s the angle 49ers cornerback Deommodore Lenoir is taking following their crushing 27-24 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. He posted a similar analogy about San Francisco’s NFC West opponent on social media, which also served as a warning to the New England Patriots ahead of their visit to Levi’s Stadium in Week 4.

It’s clear that Lenoir feels the 49ers’ loss to the Rams was an anomaly. Furthermore, the odds chart that Los Angeles posted in an attempt to taunt San Francisco shows that the Red and Gold let slip a game they could have easily won.

The 49ers had a chance to lift an injury-plagued Rams team to 0-3 in their Week 3 clash, but instead fell to 1-2 after blowing a 14-point first-quarter lead. After the loss, Lenoir lamented San Francisco’s inability to close out the game after a strong start.

“This loss came from being complacent,” Lenoir told reporters in the locker room. “We should have put them away. We gave them hope and they were able to come back and win. I think a lot of it has to do with finishing. We didn’t get the job done and really finish the game, and that’s why we got the L.”

Lenoir and co. will look to correct their mistakes from Week 3 against the Patriots next Sunday and enter the game as heavy favorites.

But as the cornerback pointed out, the age-old adage “Any given Sunday” always applies, no matter which players the 49ers play.
