CHICAGO (CBS) — Chicago police hosted a gun surrender event Saturday at St. Sabina Church in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood.

The Gresham (6th) District held the event with the St. Sabina Faith Community at the church, located at 1210 W. 78th Pl.

Police said the purpose of the “no questions asked” gun surrender is to get more guns off the streets.

Participants received a $100 Visa gift card in exchange for their weapons, and $10 for a BB gun, air pistol or replica pistol. The police also received bullets and weapon parts.

All surrendered weapons have been destroyed.
