The resurfacing project on DuSable Lake Shore Drive will resume through Friday

CHICAGO (CBS) – Road construction is underway on the DuSable Lake Shore as part of the ongoing renewal project. The work will take place between LaSalle Drive and Hollywood Avenue.

The project started Sunday at 6 p.m., with the left southbound lane between Irving Park and Diversey remaining closed overnight. In addition, all southbound lanes of DuSable Lake Shore Drive, including all on- and off-ramps, will be closed between Irving Park Road and Fullerton Avenue and will reopen at 6 a.m. Monday.

Beginning at 7 p.m. Monday, northbound lanes between Lawrence Avenue and Hollywood Avenue will be reduced to one lane and all ramps will remain open. Then, all northbound lanes and ramps between Lawrence Avenue and Hollywood Avenue will be closed at 9 p.m. and will reopen at 7 a.m. Tuesday.

The closures will then occur in the same manner Tuesday through Thursday, with northbound and southbound lanes between Hollywood Avenue and Foster Avenue on Tuesday, southbound lanes between Hollywood Avenue and Lawerence Avenue on Wednesday, and
southbound lanes between Irving Park Road and Fullerton Avenue on Thursday.

Work on this phase of the project will be completed and all lanes will reopen at 6am on Friday. All work is expected to be completed by the end of October.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time during their journey. They are also urged to look for flags and construction signs when entering work zones, obey posted speed limits and be alert for workers and equipment.
