SANTA ROSA – A woman died Saturday in Santa Rosa, while a child and a man remain in the hospital, the California Highway Patrol said.

Around 2 p.m., reports came in that a driver of a Mazda SUV was traveling south on Stony Point Road when he intentionally rammed into another vehicle multiple times, the CHP said.

The vehicle that was struck was then pushed into oncoming traffic.

The driver, a man and a child in a rear car seat were rushed to the hospital, officers said. Their final condition is unknown.

A woman in the passenger seat died at the scene.

The suspect then took off and was involved in another crash on Highway 101 toward Petaluma, where officers said he intentionally struck another car. The driver of this car was also taken to hospital with unknown injuries.

After the accident, the suspect’s vehicle became inoperable. According to officers, the suspect tried to run away but was later arrested.
