Name revealed of man killed in Fairfield Ramada shooting

FAIRFIELD – The man killed in Friday’s fatal shooting at the Ramada by Wyndham Hotel has been identified as Mohammad Sahariar, 28, of Fairfield.

Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas Fennelly announced Saturday that an unidentified surviving victim is in the hospital and that the investigation is active and ongoing.

Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II and Fairfield Police Chief Anthony Manna announced the investigation into the fatal shooting at the hotel, located at 38 Two Bridges Road, also known as County Road 613, Friday at 12:27 p.m.

Responding to a 911 call reporting unknown problems at the hotel, Fairfield police located two men, both with apparent gunshot wounds. One man was unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:35 p.m. The second victim was rushed to an area hospital where he is currently being treated.
