The City of Centerville Public Works Center announced it would begin picking up the brush this week, starting Monday.

Residents told News Center 7 they are glad their city is helping.

“We started this morning, around 6:30, and we’ll keep running all week. Hopefully everyone got the most out of it this morning, even though we have to work all week. We are only going to do one loop through the city,” Public Works Director Pat Turnbull said.

Curbside pickup will be available this week only.

‘One thing I would ask is: make sure you keep the brush and the leaves separate. Because we use different machines to pick it up,” Turnbull said.

Centerville resident Ted said separating the bush from the leaves is the easy part.

“I called the city to find out what you needed to do. If only they would go ahead this year like they did in Katrina. That was another big storm,” he said.

Several cities in the Miami Valley have offered services to clear brush left behind by the high winds and heavy rains.

The Montgomery County Transfer Station, located at 1001 Encrete Lane in Moraine, also accepts brush drops. For more information, click here.
