The street artist behind the ‘Dancing Kelce’ murals says he wanted to bring joy to Philadelphia sports fans

In his art studio, the street artist known as “Get Up” creates an increasingly popular piece in Philadelphia.

It’s a piece of graffiti art honoring the former Philadelphia Eagle Jason Kelce and the green velvet tracksuit which he called a “South Philly Tuxedo.”

“That really sealed the deal for me,” Get Up said. ‘The whole look. Everything. People seemed to fall in love with it.”

Kelce’s outfit and his dance moves went viral after he showed off the look during a pre-game football show.

Within days, Get Up created the “Dancing Kelce” and his work can now be seen all over Philly. Get Up also said he’s getting requests from people on social media showing interest in him making one.

“I saw him driving around the parking lot partying with everyone,” Get Up said of seeing Kelce at the Eagles tailgate during the viral moment. “It made sense to turn that moment into something lasting.”

The Dancing Kelce portrait has also been seen by the man himself. Kelce commented on it during an episode of his “New Heights” podcast.

“It’s dope. It’s vandalism. The city’s going to have to clean it up,” he jokingly told his brother Travis.

Get Up said he is also receiving interest from area businesses. He has already created about a dozen commissioned works in Philly and New Jersey.

The owner of Evil Genius Beer CompanyTrevor Hayward, said he had to have one. Kelce’s popular portrait has been placed in the company’s beer garden.

“This is the kind of thing that brings a lot of joy to people and hopefully it will hang on our wall for many years to come and I think a lot of pictures will be taken with it,” Hayward said.

And before Get Up, the Dancing Kelce would never make any money. The artist said his goal was to uplift the Eagles fan base and bring joy to Philadelphia sports fans.

“Yes, that’s the most important thing. I just try to do things that make people laugh,” he said.

While at the same time paying tribute to a Philadelphia sports legend.
