Rogers County Sheriff’s Office helps arrest man wanted by US Marshals

Oct. 12 – Rogers County Sheriff’s Office deputies assisted U.S. Marshals in arresting a man suspected of a violent crime on Oct. 3.

Undersheriff Jon Sappington said Darrell Denham is being held in the Rogers County Jail.

The U.S. Marshals Service charged Denham, 57, on a felony charge in Tulsa County of possessing a firearm while trafficking drugs. Sappington said marshals and the sheriff’s office caught up with Denham while he was staying at a home in Foyil.

“We had reason to believe he was a high flight risk,” Sappington said. “…We met there at the residence, we started deploying a drone, trying to establish the perimeter and breach this thing, at which point… he gets spooked.”

Denham took off on a motorcycle and drove into oncoming traffic at more than 100 miles per hour, according to the sheriff’s office Facebook page.

Law enforcement officers chased Denham for a few miles, and he crashed on a county road. Sappington said police shot him with less-lethal beanbag rounds and had medical personnel examine him. The sheriff’s office then took him into custody.
