What is your most important issue in this election?

My most important topic in these elections is Housing for all. During my years as an advocate, I have focused on vital community initiatives, such as supporting the construction of a homeless youth shelter and expanding broadband access. Each project has contributed to a stronger, more resilient community. As Commissioner I have supported these things and ensured their completion. My vision goes beyond temporary solutions; I strive to create sustainable housing solutions that provide long-term stability and security for all residents, and ensure that everyone has access to safe and affordable housing.

What is your second most important issue in this election?

The second most important issue in this election is protecting our clean air and water. Water is essential to life and influences everything in Colorado. As the saying goes, “When you touch water, you touch everything.” In Larimer it is vital for drinking water supply, agriculture, firefighting, recreation and maintaining ecosystems. I am committed to protecting our local and regional water systems by matching land use with available resources and promoting resilient communities to effectively address future water challenges – this remains a top priority

If you have a third major problem, you can talk about it here

My third major issue is the continuation of the Larimer Behavioral Health Initiative. Behavioral health, substance abuse, and suicide affect us all, whether through personal loss or societal costs. During my visits to Larimer County, I have heard countless stories from communities seeking solutions to this crisis. Having personally experienced the loss of loved ones to suicide, I understand the urgency of early intervention and mental health support. It is critical that we provide accessible resources and create a supportive environment to address these challenges and improve the well-being of our residents.

What made you want to run for this position?

I was born and raised in the region; I raised my family here. Larimer County is my home. I ran for this position in 2020 and proudly became the first woman elected as your District 3 Commissioner. For decades I have volunteered in many areas and served on boards/committees. Becoming a policymaker was crucial to protecting our quality of life and amplifying the voices of Larimer residents. As I run for re-election, I am reminded of the connections and stories that have shaped my journey, guided by values of leadership, integrity and commitment to safety, inclusion and a clean environment for all.

How would you approach the responsibilities of your office differently than your opponent if elected?

In my responsibilities, I will prioritize community engagement and collaboration. My extensive experience on boards and commissions, both before and during my time as commissioner, gives me unique insights into the challenges families face in Larimer County. I am committed to maintaining our quality of life for all residents, prioritizing people over personal gain. I strive to create an inclusive and affordable environment where everyone can live, work and thrive. My decision-making will be data-driven, strategic, and include diverse input to ensure our work reflects the perspectives of the community.
