HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Former One Direction singer Liam Payne died after falling from his hotel room in Argentina. The singer was 31.
According to state police, he was staying at the CasaSur hotel in Palermo. Police responded Wednesday to a call for a report of an “aggressive man” who was believed to be under the influence. At this time it is unclear if that man was Payne.
Authorities say Payne suffered “extremely serious injuries” and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Payne joined One Direction during the group’s formation in 2010 on the show ‘X Factor’. Other members included Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson. The group broke up in 2016.
Payne’s solo effort included hits such as “Strip That Down” with rapper Quavo and “Get Low” with Zedd.
