9 Florida schools received meat and poultry during a massive listeria recall. Here’s the list

More than 200 schools, mostly in Philadelphia and New Jersey, were on the initial list of schools to receive some of the 11,765,285 pounds of meat and poultry products that BrucePac recalled over listeria concerns.

But there were also nine schools in Florida.

The USDA made sure to state, “The products going to these schools were not part of USDA’s National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs.”

According to the CDC, listeria affects about 1,600 people in the United States each year and kills about 260 of them. Most vulnerable to the worst listeria are seniors and children under the age of five. Pregnant women can experience stillbirths and miscarriages.
