Montreal Canadiens defenseman Mike Matheson played just one period last night and did not return. It’s understandable that fans were concerned, as the veteran is an important part of the defensive corps and brings some maturity to a young blueline.

The number eight was not at training this morning because he was receiving treatment. However, the team has confirmed that he will travel with the team to New York this afternoon. If he didn’t play tomorrow, he probably wouldn’t since this is a one-game road trip.
However, Kaiden Guhle was not at practice and the organization released a statement saying he is dealing with an upper-body injury and will be evaluated daily. However, he won’t make the trip to New York, which is likely why Logan Mailloux was recalled from Laval.

Guhle’s status wasn’t the worst part of the day, however, as Juraj Slafkovsky appeared to be in serious discomfort after taking a routine shot, his shoulder appeared to be bothering him and he left the ice.

There has been no update on him, but it is worth noting that it was a shoulder injury that shortened his rookie season in 2022-2023.
