Oct. 22—GOSHEN — A motorcyclist was injured Monday afternoon when he swerved to avoid a crash in Goshen.
Police reported that Jason Bures, 38, of Goshen, was traveling northwest on US 33 on a Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Classic 103 at 12:46 p.m. and approaching the intersection at Peddler’s Village Road when a pedestrian appeared in his path and attempted to to turn left. Bures swerved to avoid hitting the pedestrian and fell from his motorcycle.
The pedestrian told police that he waited for traffic to go north and the noise to come to a stop before attempting to turn left, but the light was still yellow and that as he was turning he saw the motorcycle approaching, so he stopped he.
Bures was flown by helicopter to an area hospital for treatment.
Weekend stabbing results in Elkhart’s arrest
Aryanna McClure, 25, of Elkhart, was arrested Saturday evening and booked into the Elkhart County Jail following a stabbing in the 1400 block of West Lexington Street in Elkhart.
Elkhart police reported Saturday that a 39-year-old woman was stabbed in the leg around 2:53 p.m. The victim was transported to South Bend Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“During the incident, the known female suspect also allegedly punched a second woman in the face and damaged a window of a vehicle (belonging to the stabbing victim),” according to a department news release.
Police said the suspect left before police arrived, but was detained later that day in the 1200 block of Georgia Boulevard.
McClure was arrested on charges of battery with a deadly weapon, a level 5 felony; battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony; and battery, a class A misdemeanor. Her bond has been set at $50,000.
The case has been forwarded to the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office for review of formal criminal charges.
ARRESTS
– A 38-year-old man was arrested by Elkhart County deputies Friday at 3:01 p.m. on charges of domestic violence in the presence of a minor, possession of a minor and an active arrest warrant following an altercation in the 65000 block of Barrens Drive .
– A 46-year-old man was arrested by Elkhart County deputies Friday at 11:01 p.m. on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated following a traffic stop on Ind. 15 and CR 46.
– A 60-year-old woman was arrested by Elkhart County deputies at 1:30 a.m. Saturday on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated after she was found slumped over the steering wheel near Ox Bow Drive and River Lane in Elkhart.
– A 44-year-old man was arrested by Elkhart County deputies Saturday at 6:36 p.m. on a charge of operating while intoxicated after police were called to Meijer, 4522 Elkhart Road, for a man who had been sleeping in a running car that had gotten out and onto peed on the ground before passing out back in the driver’s seat.
