Police identify cyclist killed in collision with Bear, still searching for driver

Delaware State Police troopers are still working to identify the driver of a car that struck and killed a bicyclist on Route 40 in Bear Monday afternoon.

Adam Roberts, 40, of New Castle, was struck while riding his bicycle along the shoulder of Route 40 (Pulaski Highway) near Wellington Drive just before 5:30 p.m. The driver, who was in a black SUV, witnesses told police, fled after the crash.

Patrols and a state police helicopter tried to find the car, but were unsuccessful. Police are still trying to determine the exact make and model of the car.
