(CBS DETROIT) – Three Michigan cities are among the 50 most rat-infested cities in America, according to Orkin’s annual Top 50 Rattiest Cities List.
For the third year in a row, Detroit made the top 10 list, coming in at No. 8. The Motor City ranked ninth in 2023 and 10th in 2022. Grand Rapids checks in at No. 27 and Flint is at No. 42.
Chicago was Voted the rattiest city in America for the tenth year in a row and has held that title since Orkin first made the list.
“Chicago’s abundance of alleys provide rodents with hidden havens and provide plenty of room to hide while feasting on trash. Rodents also like to dig and find shelter under subway tracks or around underground pipes,” Orkin said. “These hidden places can cause the rodent population to grow if left unchecked.”
Los Angeles and New York ranked second and third most ratty cities in the country, respectively. Both cities have been among the top three most ratties since 2017.
