(CBS DETROIT) – Gun violence may not be a major problem in Canada, but a Canadian company is hoping to capitalize on America’s gun violence problem by equipping Ram trucks with bullet-repellent armor.

The motto for the new INKAS Ram 1500 is “Built for civilians, discreetly armored.”

The Toronto company says the new trucks are equipped with “BR4-level protection that can withstand .44 Magnum rounds.” The truck is also equipped with multi-layer bullet-resistant glass.

It takes about two to three weeks to equip the trucks, and officials said they are “perfectly suited for high-risk regions or for everyday use.”

“The Armored RAM 1500 represents a new standard for safe transportation,” said Arthur Yurovitsky, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at INKAS. “With this release, we bring discreet yet powerful protection to a vehicle renowned for its capabilities and versatility. It is an ideal solution for customers looking for safety without sacrificing functionality.” The price of the armor has not been released.

CBS News Detroit reached out to the company for comment and has not heard back.
