Efrain Zarazua, better known to customers as Frankie, was chased by the unknown assailant outside the restaurant in the 8400 block of Santa Monica Boulevard on Saturday around 10:30 p.m.
Surveillance footage shows the shocking moments when the suspect, shirtless and wearing a white hat, knocked Zarazua to the ground before stomping on him and kicking him repeatedly in the head.
AJ Sacher, director of operations for the restaurant chain, says Zarazua is the face of the company as he greets almost everyone who sets foot inside.
“He’s someone that people greet. They know them all over the city and beyond because he’s been such a fixture there,” Sacher said.
According to the restaurant chain, Zarazua suffered multiple injuries to his head, neck and body. He was kept in intensive care while he recovered from his injuries.
Sheriff’s officials said they believed the same suspect also committed at least four other attacks in the same general area within 20 minutes that evening in West Hollywood. The injuries sustained in those attacks were not that serious.
Gray was arrested about a month after he allegedly attacked Zarazua.
