Three people were injured early Saturday in a stabbing at a fast-food restaurant and a man was charged with multiple crimes, Columbia police said.
The attack happened at the Hardee’s at 5801 US 321/Fairfield Road, police said in a news release Saturday evening. That’s in the area between North Main Street and Exit 70 on Interstate 20.
Shortly before 8 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call about a fight at the Hardee’s fast food restaurant, the news release said. Officers found three people with what police called “non-life-threatening injuries.”
Two of the victims were Hardee employees and the other was a customer, the release said. One of the victims is still in hospital, police said. No further information about the victim’s condition was available.
Police said they believe 42-year-old Ira Grissett “went to the restaurant with the intent to confront a male employee about a personal conflict.”
No information was available on what led to the attack, and no word on how all three victims became involved.
Grissett was charged with attempted murder, two counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, as well as possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, according to the release.
No bond has been set and Grissett remains behind bars at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, jail records show.
According to Richland County court records, the Columbia resident will return to court on December 13 after a bond hearing.
Officers found the knife used in the attack, but police say it was an isolated incident.
