The Los Angeles Metro launched the latest version of its “Transit Watch” app, which offers new features such as the ability for passengers to report security, safety or maintenance issues directly to the agency.

“We all play a role in making the system more secure,” said Robert Gummer, deputy chief of System Security and Law Enforcement. “Whether you’re on your way to work, school or to visit friends, we want to know when you see something disturbing. With the enhanced features of Transit Watch 3.0, you can now view information, including your exact location and videos, with our sharing in 24/7 real time.”

In addition to the direct line to security, Metro added that the third version of its app includes:

  • Real-time translation functionality of incoming and outgoing messages to accommodate users with limited English proficiency.
  • An optional ‘Location Sharing’ feature allows users to easily select the location they are reporting from, whether it is a station, bus stop, train or bus.
  • Thanks to the extensive media capabilities, users can upload videos in addition to photos

“We are so grateful to all the riders who shared their time and valuable feedback with us by responding to surveys and participating in focus groups and testing,” said Jennifer Vides, Metro’s Chief Customer Experience Officer. “The result is a more user-friendly app that better meets the needs of Metro’s diverse rider base and makes our system faster, cleaner, friendlier and safer.”

Users can download the LA Metro Transit Watch app from the Apple App Store and Google Play. Click here for more details.
