Footage of the moment police boarded a plane and arrested Sara Sharif’s alleged killers as they returned to Britain has been shown to jurors.
Sara’s three relatives had traveled to Pakistan on August 9, 2023, the day after she died at the family home in Woking, Surrey.
As police approached their seats aboard an Emirates flight as they returned on September 13, Sara’s stepmother Beinash Batool raised her hand and said, “I think they’re looking for us.”
Mrs Batool, 30, Sara’s father, Urfan Sharif, 42, and her uncle, Faisal Malik, 29, deny murder and causing or permitting the death of a child during their trial at the Old Bailey.
Sara’s body was discovered in a bunk bed at her home on August 10, 2023.
Jurors previously heard she was hooded, burned, bitten and beaten during more than two years of abuse.
The video shows a number of officers wearing police identification on their backs boarding the plane from Dubai seven minutes after it landed at Gatwick Airport.
When officers approached Mr Sharif, they asked him if he had a bag with him. He said no.
He was then handcuffed and put on the plane.
The footage then shows Mr Sharif standing near a police van, where he was arrested on suspicion of murdering his daughter.
The video also shows Mr Malik and Ms Batool being arrested from the plane on suspicion of the murder.
All three suspects were questioned separately by police the day after their arrest. All of them did not comment on officers’ questions.
The jury also heard on Friday how social services decided to take no further action, despite a referral from Sara’s school, after bruises were found on the girl months before her death.
The trial at the Old Bailey continues.
