Man expects to be tied up and have sex with young woman, attacked with axe

A man who expected to have sex with a young woman after allowing her to tie him up on the beach was instead attacked with an ax, according to a Volusia County Sheriff’s Office report.

The attack happened near 1900 Ocean Shore Blvd. in Ormond-By-The-Sea at 8:34 PM on Wednesday.

Alana Cagle, 18, of Daytona Beach, and her boyfriend, Wayne Streeter, 24, of Ormond Beach, were each charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Both suspects were released from the Volusia County Branch Jail on $5,000 bail.

The victim suffered multiple lacerations

The victim said he “agreed to come to the beach with Alana Cagle so she could tie him up on the beach and have sex with him,” according to a charging affidavit. Cagle picked him up in her Subaru between 6 and 7 p.m. and they drove to Bicentennial Park where she parked and walked to the beach.

The victim said he got “strange feelings” from Cagle sitting five feet away from him, and then began tying his legs with a piece of yellow rope. The victim said he felt uncomfortable, so he told Cagle he had changed his mind. That’s when Streeter showed up, according to the arrest report’s narrative.

The victim began to untie his legs, but Cagle jumped onto his legs. He fought her off and ran away as Streeter gave chase, knocking the victim to the ground. According to the report, Streeter strangled the victim until he could barely breathe.

Cagle began hitting the victim, the report states. The victim told a deputy that he “observed Alana with what appeared to be an ax as she hit him all over.”

The victim said he fought for his life and escaped the assault, running onto Ocean Shore Boulevard, where he saw a deputy’s patrol car.

Shirtless man, bleeding profusely

The deputy who picked up the victim reported seeing a shirtless man bleeding profusely from one leg and other parts of his body, frantically yelling and waving at cars on Ocean Shore Boulevard. The victim had multiple lacerations to his abdomen, kneecaps, shins and a deep gash on the upper left side of his back.

The victim was transported to Advent Health Daytona to be treated for his injuries.

Cagle and Streeter were arrested during a traffic stop shortly after the incident. Blood and the victim’s backpack were found in the car.

At the scene of the attack, officers found the yellow rope, a T-shirt, a hat and an ax sheath. Investigators also found blood on a beach path and in the park where the victim was running.

Cagle asked for an attorney and declined to speak with deputies. Streeter said he was picked up by Cagle to go to the beach and that he did not know how the victim got to the beach. He claimed the victim pushed Cagle down and prompted Streeter to punch him in the face. After the fight, he and Cagle drove away, he said.
