Regional gas prices fell for the second week in a row, reaching an average of $2.65 per gallon of regular fuel on Monday, down from last week’s price of $2.72 per gallon, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
The average price of fuel in the Gulf Coast region has fallen about 5 cents since last month. Gas prices across the region last year were as low as $2.55 on December 18, 2023, and as low as $3.46 on August 21, 2023, according to the EIA.
A year ago, the average gas price in the Gulf Coast region was 11% higher at $2.97 per gallon.

The average gas price in the United States last week was $3.10, making prices in the Gulf Coast region about 14.6% lower than the national average. The average national gas price is down from last week’s average of $3.14 per gallon.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration’s list of awards for Gulf Coast states includes Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico and Texas.
