Sunny and chilly starts Monday in the Philadelphia region, but will we see rain this week? Here’s the prediction.

Rarely do we see temperatures rise from 50 degrees to 80 degrees in a four-day period, but that’s what we expect this week in the Philadelphia region. We could even be chasing near record highs on Wednesday.

Temperatures will climb back into the upper 60s on Monday, with partly cloudy skies. Despite some more cloud cover, we see a south and south-easterly wind direction, which will mean we will be above average again. Average highs this week will range from 60 to 61 degrees.

On Election Day on Tuesday, we will be partly sunny and unseasonably warm in the upper 70s in most areas, possibly exceeding our record high of 80 degrees. We are predicting a high of 80 degrees in the city.

Wednesday is the warmest day of the week and we are chasing a new record. Our forecast is 80 degrees, almost 20 degrees above average and the record is 79 in 1948.

Another weak front will move across the region on Thursday, with a few showers possible south of the city. There’s a slim chance it could deliver the 0.01 inches of rain needed to end our record dry spell. But it’s more likely that it will sizzle like the past four fronts, keeping us dry.

Temperatures will drop into the 60s on Friday under mostly sunny skies.

The NEXT Weather Alert Team will be monitoring a more organized system next Sunday-Monday, which has a better chance of bringing us some showers. Stay tuned for updates!
