Out-of-control boat takes to the air after crashing into Florida Keys harbor, video shows

A boater lost control of his vessel over the weekend and crashed into a seawall at a Florida Keys marina, according to video shared with the Miami Herald.

The crash happened late Saturday at the Marina Club at Blackwater Sound at milepost 104 on Key Largo Bay, shortly before midnight, said fishing guide Capt. Lain Goodwin, who accompanied Capt. George Clark, Jr. the stars are from The Fish Guyz. television program on Discovery Channel.

It was The Fish Guyz’s Ring doorbell camera that captured the chaos, showing the small center console suddenly picking up speed, racing toward the dock and flying into the air after slamming into the dock.

“The crazy thing is that that seawall is about three feet above the surface,” Goodwin said.

Daniel Roque Jr., the son of the boat owner and operator, told Local 10 that his father increased his speed as the wind picked up to avoid hitting other boats in the marina. But he slipped and fell on the accelerator, causing it to move even further forward, he told the television station.

No one was seriously injured in the crash. The senior Roque had one passenger on the boat who was ejected but unharmed, Local 10 reported.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, which is investigating the crash, did not immediately respond to requests for information on details of the crash.
