Murder suspect gets 70 years in prison for pistol-whipping man during Fort Worth robbery

A North Texas man was sentenced Tuesday to 70 years in prison for murder in a robbery that took place in Fort Worth in June 2019.

Ahmad Farid, 36, suffered serious injuries after being robbed at gunpoint late at night in the 5400 block of East Loop 820 South.

Farid was severely beaten during the robbery and he was taken to a local hospital, where he died four days later. His death was ruled a homicide.

Christon Jackson, who authorities allege committed the robbery with April Marrero-Contreras and Tabitha Thomas, pistol-whipped Farid, causing trauma to his head, police said. The robbers stole the victim’s iPhone and his wallet, which police said contained about $300.

All three suspects were charged with murder in the months following the killing.

Jackson, 55, was convicted Tuesday after a jury found him guilty, according to the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office.
