New Jersey Palisades wildfire sends smoke over the Hudson River into New York

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NJ — Another one A forest fire broke out in New Jersey at night, and it sends smoke over the Hudson River into the Bronx.

CBS News Christina Fan from New York is live at Englewood Cliffs along the Palisades Parkway, about a mile north of the George Washington Bridge.

Dozens of firefighters gathered at Exit 1 on the Parkway, where one northbound lane was closed.

Meanwhile, CBS News New York’s Elijah Westbrook reports from another vantage point in Fort Tryon Park in upper Manhattan, where smoke is beginning to billow.

The Palisades area is located between the Parkway and the Hudson River. The steep, wooded area is full of dry, dense shrubbery and is relatively inaccessible, but the river acts as a natural barrier and there are few structures nearby.
