Fireball lights up the North Texas sky Saturday evening

Space debris lit up the sky over North Texas on Saturday evening, according to eyewitness videos posted on social media.

A video posted to the North Texas Weather Center Facebook page shows the debris burning up in the air and splitting into pieces.

The National Weather Service office in Fort Worth could not confirm what the object was, but it is believed to have been a satellite or other type of space debris and not a meteor shower.
