Lenoir reveals emotional reaction to 49ers contract extension originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
Deommodore Lenoir didn’t hesitate when he heard the news of his lucrative five-year, $92 million contract extension with the 49ers.
While speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Lenoir revealed his wave of emotions after hearing the life-changing deal had been made official.
“I was happy. When I heard my agent tell me the deal was finally done, I burst into tears that I was finally able to change the lives of my family for generations,” Lenoir said. “It was just a blessing.”
Coach Kyle Shanahan also raved about the signing, revealing San Francisco’s intentions to sign the rising star cornerback to a long-term contract for some time.
“Pumped, something we tried to do in the offseason. It didn’t work out. They started this a few weeks ago so they could finish it yesterday, so pumped,” Shanahan said. “I can’t say enough about DMo. He’s exactly what we want as a Niner. His style of play, how good he’s become and how much he loves football and he’s the same guy every day. I know we were excited, the guys. ” were pumped up, it was huge.”
Lenoir’s teammates wasted no time in celebrating his extension and provided a fitting celebration during Wednesday’s practice.
Lenoir, who just turned 25 in October, is likely entering his prime as he ascends to the status of a bona fide No. 1 cornerback.
The fourth-year NFL veteran has two interceptions and six passes defended during the 2024 NFL season, proving to be invaluable in the 49ers’ secondary – a role he plans to continue in for years to come.
