A portion of County Line Road in Lower Moreland Township, Pennsylvania, is closed after a pickup truck and a school bus collided Thursday evening.
The crash happened at County Line and Buxmont roads around 5:30 p.m., Lower Moreland Township police said. There were several students on the bus at the time and at least one suffered minor injuries, police said.
Chopper 3 flew overhead as a driver was freed from the pickup. The driver was taken to hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, a police spokesman said.
In a letter to the school community, Dennis H. Best, superintendent of Lower Moreland Township Schools, said the accident involved an activity bus completing the late run. Students were evaluated and released to their parents and guardians, Best said.
“Please know that the safety of our students is our top priority, even as they ride the bus to and from school every day,” Best said.
The superintendent added that counselors are available at all schools to talk to students in need.
County Line Road remains closed between Pine Road and Bustleton Avenue.
Lower Moreland Police are investigating. Anyone who witnessed the collision and did not speak to police is encouraged to call Lower Moreland Township police at 215-947-3132.
