Nov. 15 – A resident’s holiday cheer drew the ire of a neighbor, who complained to Kalispell police that the newly installed decorative lighting was very bright and shining through the windows. They found the light display ‘very inconsiderate’. Officers stopped by to see the light and determined that the brightness did not constitute a crime. The neighbor who called during the light show had a vague idea of that answer.
Someone noticed a ladder in the middle of the southbound ramp of the US 93 Bypass.
A passerby handed in the found wallet to the police.
Someone allegedly delivered gas bottles to the rooms of a motel. The person who initiated the refueling effort asked officers to conduct additional patrols in the area, citing other ongoing criminal problems.
A caller asked officers to intervene in an argument between a man and a woman in a car. Authorities tried unsuccessfully to locate the vehicle.
Given his marching papers from his mother, a 47-year-old called the police asking where he should go now that his mother had kicked him out of the house. He complied with the request moments later and was told to ask these types of questions on the non-emergency line.
The driver of an older green sedan allegedly approached a passerby and asked where he could find drugs.
Officers were asked to deal with a possibly dead homeless man in a public park. The caller said the person was resting his head on a scooter and his face was covered with a white blanket. Despite the honking of passing vehicles, the person had not moved. Arriving officers determined the person was okay.
Someone reported a motorist who drove recklessly in a parking lot.
A resident said they had received information about drug cartels working at a local school and wanted to speak to officers.
Authorities removed scrap metal that had been discarded in the left northbound lane of the US 93 Bypass.
A stall vendor at a downtown antique market detained a man at Taser point for allegedly trying to sell stolen goods. Arriving officers banned the man from the premises after the market’s owner refused to press charges.
Officers tried to track down a man who was reportedly sleeping in his truck at the behest of a passerby, who requested a welfare check on the drowsy motorist.
A customer who wanted to make some returns called the police after the store manager told her to leave and threatened to contact the police. She told officers she didn’t understand what prompted the manager to kick her out. He had been staring at her, she told officers.
A motorist was angry when he discovered his caravan had been ticketed by officers and called the police seeking answers. They told him the trailer deserved a ticket because it wasn’t secured. The motorist said he left about an inch of space between the trailer and his vehicle, which he considered sufficient. He also argued that there were other loose trailers in the area that escaped ticket sales. He had to assume that the police were targeting him. Although he was told this was not the case, he said he planned to come down tomorrow morning to complain to the captain.
