MINNEAPOLIS— Minnesota gets a layer of snow Wednesday, with expected totals ranging from a trace in the Twin Cities to several inches in the West.

One layer of snow has already arrived in the metro from the west, and more may fall during the morning. In the west it will last even longer: a winter weather advisory is in effect until 6 p.m

WCCO’s NEXT Weather Watchers are already reporting snow totals across the state. Our highest total yet comes from Randall, where Bob Maschler measures 1.3 inches.

In the Twin Cities, most readings are just trace, although NEXT Weather Watchers in Champlin and Chanhassen have recorded slightly more.

In the southwestern Minnesota town of Canby, Allen Krueger recorded half an inch.
