A Mountain View hairdresser accused of multiple sexual assaults that left the victims unconscious has fled prosecution and is now on the run, authorities said Wednesday.
The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday that it was looking for Franklin Enrique Sarceno Orla, who has been accused of sexually assaulting two men, including one kidnapping. The 34-year-old was initially arrested in late August and posted $250,000 bail.
“There was a sexual predator in our community and we thank the Mountain View Police Department for identifying him,” District Attorney Jeff Rosen said in a statement. “With the help of courageous victims, investigators and the public, we will soon have him in custody to prevent him from ever hurting anyone again.”
Police launched an investigation in July after a man said he woke up injured and dizzy after drinking a drink containing Sarceno Orla. Forensic research has shown that the person was sexually abused.
A second victim told police that the suspect was his hairdresser and that he had lost consciousness while having a beer with him.
Evidence obtained by police showed that Sarceno Orla may have attacked at least 20 different men dating back to 2018. Police said the victims appeared to be unconscious or seriously intoxicated and that he videotaped many of the attacks.
Authorities are working to identify the victims.
Anyone who believes they have been a victim was asked to call Mountain View police at 650-903-6618 or email Detective Lauren Riffel or Detective Guillermo de Lira. Potential victims were also urged to contact their doctor to be tested for sexually transmitted diseases.
Sarceno Orla faces life in prison if caught and convicted.
