Free Thanksgiving meal available for people who are homebound and need extra help

Nov. 20 – A free Thanksgiving dinner will be available for Chickasha community members who are homebound or need extra help.

New Life Christian Church of Chickasha will host the dinner.

The event has been going on for about 20 years and was hosted by several churches until New Life took over hosting duties in 2013, said Jackie Henderson, who helps organize the dinner.

“It’s primarily a home delivery meal,” Henderson said. “It delivers to homebound people or people who need a free meal. So it’s completely free to the community.”

Henderson said they plan to provide approximately 500 meals, which will consist of turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing, green beans, cranberry sauce, a roll and a piece of pie.

For those interested in having a meal delivered, Henderson says they should call New Life Christian Church at 405-222-5433 and let the office know how many meals are needed by Nov. 26. Callers can also leave a voicemail.

Deliveries will take place between 10:00 and 11:00 am

Any additional meals can be picked up at the Chickasaw Soup kitchen, located at 520 W. Pennsylvania Ave., from noon to 1 p.m.
